Evaluation of enterprises pending privatisation and restructuring, with the participation of strategic partners in Southern Serbia
With the support from USAID - OTI, and in cooperation with Nis Faculty of Economics, there was developed a study on privatisation and restructuring of enterprises in Southern Serbia. Results of the research were published in an adequate brochure, which was delivered to the authorities, associations of entrepreneurs and other stakeholders in economic sector. Yet 300 copies were distributed during the meetings that PROTECTA managerial staff had with people influencing the economic life in the country.
Start up and development of sustainable business
The programme aimed at identifying business ideas of a high quality in small local communities and supporting their realisation started in April 2002, with support from CHF, and in cooperation with CHF. During the programme, the most lucrative activities were identified in the given communities so as to ensure sustainability and create new employment opportunities. The project paved the way for future projects of PROTECTA addressing this issue.
ALT NET
In the course of 2002 and 2003, PROTECTA implemented the IRD project Alternative Network of NGOs (ALT NET) including distribution of food, school kits, hygiene, clothing etc. The third and the final phase of the project was meant to provide financial support for business start up for socially disadvantaged categories of population and it included micro-loans (grants) as a donation to improve quality of living of this category of population.
Standards for better approach to EU market
PROTECTA started realization of the project of cross-border cooperation of microregions covering the municipalities of Vranje, Presevo and Kumanovo. The project is realized in cooperation with partner organizations “Green World” from Presevo and “Fenix” from Kumanovo and aims at educating and initiating producers and prospective producers of healthy food into HACCP standard usage that has become necessary for export of products to European Union. The project started on June 1st 2007 and its duration is four months. The process of education that will be performed by eminent training experts in the field of HACCP standards in the Balkans, will not only aim at establishing cross-border multiethnic cooperation, but also at educating and providing certificates to the participants that will, in this way, introduce HACCP standards into production themselves.
